I have a SANYO MBC 555 with two double sided disk drives, 256K ram. Other than Wordstar and other business stuff that comes free, I have an Xlisp interpreter (which is in the public domain) and TURBO PASCAL (which I bought) [1] As a so-so programmer, I'd like to hear from people who have used other programming languages on the SANYO, especially people who have tried C compilers. I would like to hear about DeSmet C which is supposedly selling for US$100. [2] Rumours of a card cage (through the 'external' slot) that will accept *some* IBM PC plug on cards have been circulating, does anyone have any info on this? [3] How about people who have tried hard disks? There appears to be one instance of it being mentioned in SOFT SECTOR (Sanyo user's Mag). [4] Any replies will be really appreciated. ............................................................................. utcsrgv!utai!indra (Indra Laksono @ CSRI, U of T) [----------------------] [No, You don't know me.] :-] -- [----------------------]

From: FRANK3 <FRANK3@SRI-VAX.ARPA> [extra line?] I have noted a few inquiries regarding the SANYO PC on this net. Be advised that I edit the Sanyo PC Hackaers Newsletter (International) and have a couple dozen back issues available as samples for those interested in this computer/newsletter. Last month we devoted a lot of space to WordStar 3.30 patches. Items in earlier issues besides the bundled software included such gems as "Time Trials at Floating Point" which compared Turbo Pascal and DeSmet C on the SANYO with and without 8087 support and on the VAX. If you are interested, respond to me, FRANK@SRI-VAX.ARPA, not the whole net, or to the address below. Victor Frank 12450 Skyline Blvd Woodside, CA, 94062
