A while back, I posted some questions about problems I was having getting NFS mounted partitions to go away when the server was no longer active. I wrote that I couldn't get the NFS mounts to go away to allow me to shutdown my system. After some very helpful input from SGI (thanks /be!), I've resolved my problem. Seems that I was a bit too impatient. The first time I had the problem, my battery backup suppply ran out before the umounts timed out. Seems my umounts take about 4 minutes to dismount the 3 partitions I have. Guess I'll just have to start the umounts earlier in case I need to do a quck shutdown. So, at least as far as soft mounted partitions go, there doesn't seem to be any problem, just operator error.
