After loading tcsh version 5.20 from Cornell (thanks, Christos!) and playing with it a bit, I decided to make it my default shell. I had put it in /usr/local/bin, and it worked fine from a remote ascii terminal, after changing the default shell entry for me in /etc/passwd to /usr/local/bin/tcsh. However, from the console, a wsh would die before returning a prompt. Once I moved tcsh to /bin, and changed /etc/passwd accordingly, everything worked. So my question is, "How come?". Second, I've been going through the vadmin man page, and have figured out that by changing /usr/lib/vadmin/pwd.defaults, I can make tcsh the default shell for new users added through use of the System Manager tool. When I say I've figured it out, that doesn't mean I've tried it :-) ! So this is a request to document vadmin subcommands to a lower level than is now the case, and also, incidentally, to expand the Backup&Restore submenu to subsume more of bru's options -- perhaps in a configurable manner, through the use of one of these .defaults files. -P. ************************f*u*cn*rd*ths*u*cn*gt*a*gd*jb************************** Peter S.
