Hi, my system disk recently crashed because of bad blocks which were not correctly mapped :-( . As I tried to read some technical information about PROM and how to use it, I recognized that my most recent documentation in the IRIS Owner's guide dates back to 1988. Either I overlooked something, or the new guide does no longer have such information, nor is it stored elsewhere. Is that correct? Regarding the quota which have been asked for recently, I finally partitioned my disks in non-standard fashion which makes it possible to keep groups of users in own partitions. While this approach is powerful, I recognized that the miniroot cannot mkfs any partition other than 0,1,and 6 on the ESDI controller. (Though I made sure that the b and c devices are there), The error message is 'cannot determine size of fs ... . Is that a feature or a bug? Do others use non-standard partitions ? Is this a dead-end road which won't be supported in the future? Regards Reinhard
