Hi everybody !
I have just 2 questions that I would like to address to some one working
at SGI's:
- Do you offer a main board/system upgrade for the 3030 -> Personal Iris 4D ?
(I definitely do not care about the exact processor version; if possible, a
main board swap would satisfy me completely.
I would also be very interested in the price I'd have to pay ...
Are there educational/student discounts available ?
- Could you please give me an address to contact for swapping/upgrading a
system (e-mail preferred) ?
Please respond via e-mail, as I don't read news very often ...
Thanks a bundle !

SGI has offered us the "oportunity" of "upgrading" our 3130's to 4D's. It's what we call around here a "forklift" upgrade. In other words, you send them your old machine PLUS MANY $$, and then they send you a 4D. The upgrade was a joke as far as we were concerned. Basically, they were allowing a ~$8k on the old machine and we couldn't upgrade to a Personal, it had to be a higher end machine. The 3000's are completely incompatable with the 4D's so you can't just do some board swapping. Sorry about the bad news. Hope this helps. -- Brent L.
