I thought that someone at sgi had made or was about to make a definative GNU emacs instalation. It might help if an installed version was ftp'able from sgi.com or vgr.brl.mil. What is the final word on this ? Who wants to distribute the 'final' version. Frankly, I have not tried GNU emacs because of all the fuss about it on the net. GnuEmacs 18.56, which will be released very very soon from the FSF
will support 4D series machines running Irix 3.3.
