Can anyone suggest a source of fast (350ns) TMS2716 (3-voltage) EPROMS? Everyone advertises 450ns parts, but I require a tad more speed. -Thanks in advance Charlie Strom

In fact, 2764s are obsolete. I think that 2764As are still ok, at least until the end of the month. :-) 27512s are definitely not obsolete. Seriously, I would recommend using a (CHEAP!) 2764, which comes with a standard access time of 250 nS and just use the bottom 1/4. This assumes you are designing something. If you are using something already designed, a 2732A with an adaptor might be the ticket. *** not an official policy statement *** -- Phil Ngai (408) 982-6554 UUCPnet: {ucbvax,decwrl,ihnp4,allegra,intelca}!amd!phil ARPAnet: amd!phil@decwrl.ARPA

He was asking for "TMS"2764's which are 3 supply EPROMs built by Texas Instruments. They are still listed in the TI 1984 MOS Memory data book so apparently you might still be able to get them from TI. They must be part of an OLD design 'cause nobody in their right mind would design these parts into anything. The best thing to do would be to redesign whatever these turkeys plug into to take the 5V only 2732A's ( a few cuts and jumpers ). They'll probably be easier to get than the 3 supply 2716's in the near future and it'll be easier getting the faster speeds. Either that or buy a lifetime supply of 3 supply 2716's. Of course this is all assuming that there still some life in the design to make it worth it. Thanks for the reply, but note that I was asking about TMS2716's rather than INT2716's. The former are three-voltage parts. As it turns out, I was able to locate 300ns parts from Newark Electronics (at $19 ea. - ouch!) I am surprised that you say the 2K parts are obsolete - they are used in a lot of existing equipment, and besides, I need these parts for exisiting hardware (Scion Microangelo boards to be exact). If you needed 2K of program in an Eprom, would you use a 2764 or a 2716? Granted, the three-voltage parts are a little ridiculous to design into any new equipment. -Charlie
