A few days ago I registered a bug ( some body beat me to the first complaint) about ls -l dumping core if the user is not explicitly in the passwd file. Now we have the following problem. Users are given access using th + operator of NIS. They are able to log in and their NeWS starts up just fine. The problem is that all their wsh windows die instantly. This is a REALLY anoying bug and a posted fix would be great. In fact It is hard for me to resist flaming SGI for this bug. But I will control my self and go have a shower. ========================================================================= | |===============================| | John Buchanan (juancho) | buchanan@cs.ubc.ca | | Imager Manager |===============================| | Imager | (604) 228-2218 | | Department of Computer Science |===============================| | University of British Columbia | Standard disclaimer | | Vancouver, BC, Canada | included in this | | | box, right here. | ========================================================================= | This from ;login: (The USENIX Association Newsletter), Sep/Oct 1990, | | in a report on a Usenix Standards BOF session: | | | | An overheard conversation: | | | | -"Mach was the greatest intellectual fraud in the last ten years." | | | | -"What about X?" | | | | -"I said `intellectual' " | | | =========================================================================
