[comp.sys.sgi] Is this bug known to be related to ls -l problem

buchanan@cs.ubc.ca (John (juancho) buchanan) (01/22/91)

A few days ago I registered a bug ( some body beat me to the first complaint)
about ls -l dumping core if the user is not explicitly in the passwd file.

Now we have the following problem.

Users are given access using th + operator of NIS. They are able to log in
and their NeWS starts up just fine. The problem is that all their
wsh windows die instantly.

This is a REALLY anoying bug and a posted fix would be great. In fact
It is hard for me to resist flaming SGI for this bug. But I will control
my self and go have a shower.

Upgrade to IRIX 3.3.2 if you use netgroups in /etc/passwd.
