I was tracing a bug in my program that caused a HUGH (almost, but very large) value to be calloc'ed. The program crashed with a big core dump, but I just noticed that gr_osview shows all the memory in core being used as userdata. I have 32mb. The program is dead and gone, and any memory that is tried to allocate should be freed. This is using the libmalloc.a version malloc, and I will have to reboot my kernel if there is no way to unlock(unpin ?) those pages of memory. My machine is now swaping for everything. Performance is poor, and a crash in malloc should free any memory it tried to acquire.
