i got this message on a GT: WARNING: Process showcase (16519) killed due to bad page read (errno:5) i've never seen this before. could it in any way be the fault of the process? (i doubt it.) does it mean my disk is going south? (i hope not.) is it a kernel/VM bug? (irix? no way. must be a system V vestige.) is there anything i can do to capture the circumstances of the error for the kernel gurus at sgi? seth

i got this message on a GT: WARNING: Process showcase (16519) killed due to bad page read (errno:5) This one is easy: you are running a binary which is NFS mounted. If you use the "nointr" option on your NFS mount, the problem goes away. Maybe some NFS guru can give you a good low-level explanation. I think it has to do with signals interrupting the NFS calls. -- Michael I. Gold You go your way, I'll go mine, Silicon Graphics Inc. I don't care if we get there on time, Internet: gold@sgi.com Everybody's searching for something they say, Voice: (415) 335-1709 I'll get my kicks on the way...
