have a 4D20 that does not have the develpment system installed, however we do have the X installed. I can't seem to get any of our X programs to start from within any login without first restarting the X server by typing xSGI at the prompt. I haven't ever had to do this before on any of our other equipment. What have I done wrong in our installation of 3.3.1 (where is our 3.3.2?) and how can I fix it without bringing everything to a screeching halt? Check the manual pages of pandora and chkconfig- since I'm not on my PI
right now, I can't give you an exact answer, but there is a directory
containing files which control how a visual (console) login starts up. One
happens to be 'start X on login'...

We had a user with the same problem. He had a file somewhere in his NeWS directory in his login directory. In there was a file, init.ps I think, which was being used instead of the file in /usr/NeWS/lib/NeWS/init.ps. Removing the local copy of the file fixed his problem. Larry
