IRIS Showcase allows you to stretch and rotate graphic objects. Recently, a tip was posted on producing mirror images of graphics by "reverse-stretching" them. A similar technique can be used to "shear" an object. Shearing a rectangle, for example, produces a parallelogram. Here's how to do this using IRIS Showcase: 1. Select the object(s) you wish to shear. 2. If you haven't already done so, choose "Rotate Handles" from the "View" menu. 3. Grab a rotate handle and twirl the objects a bit. 4. Grab one of the stretch handles and stretch the objects in the same direction you wish to shear (i.e. stretch horizontally to shear horizontally). 5. Grab the rotate handle and rotate the objects back to where they were before you started. The objects will now be sheared. Naturally, this cannot be done only with graphic objects that cannot be rotated, such as images or text. __ \/ Michael Portuesi Silicon Graphics, Inc. portuesi@sgi.com "a knife, a fork, a bottle and a cork..."
