Screen sounded like a nifty program to me so I downloaded it off of sgi.com and unpacked it. I couldn't see anything that need changing in Makefile except for a few destination directories so I typed make and it seemed to build ok. I moved the files to their locations and tested it out. It worked fine (as far as I could tell) over the ethernet from my PC, but when I really want to use it is when I dial in from home. I tried it out last night from home and found that invoking screen hangs up my connection. Furthermore I can't get the machine to answer when I call it back. Our system is connected to a Rolm data phone system which we access by calling a modem pool which then allows us to wander around inside the Rolm system (essentially a 9600 baud rs-232 network). We do not have HUPCL set for the login session because that causes problems with the Rolm system. Has anyone else used screen in this sort of arrangement or were there some Makefile switches I should have set?
