I posted a similar question some time ago, but got no response. Are we the only two people who have noticed this??? ----- Forwarded message # 1: Received: from vmb.brl.mil by VAT.BRL.MIL id aa03443; 3 Apr 91 19:14 EST Received: from vmb.brl.mil by VMB.BRL.MIL id ab04463; 3 Apr 91 18:16 EST Received: from vmb.brl.mil by VMB.BRL.MIL id aq02874; 3 Apr 91 17:32 EST Received: from vgr.brl.mil by VMB.BRL.MIL id ab02620; 3 Apr 91 17:12 EST Received: from ucbvax.Berkeley.EDU by VGR.BRL.MIL id aa02961; 3 Apr 91 11:47 EST Received: by ucbvax.Berkeley.EDU (5.63/1.42) id AA16897; Tue, 2 Apr 91 20:33:52 -0800 Received: from USENET by ucbvax.Berkeley.EDU with netnews for info-iris@brl.mil (info-iris@brl.mil) (contact usenet@ucbvax.Berkeley.EDU if you have questions) Date: 3 Apr 91 01:04:46 GMT From: Paul Connally <paulc@boulder.colorado.edu> Organization: University of Colorado, Boulder Subject: csh doesn't die in console (or tcsh) Message-Id: <1991Apr3.010446.963@colorado.edu> Sender: info-iris-request@BRL.MIL To: info-iris@BRL.MIL I use a PI/4D20 running Irix 3.3.1 and have noticed a small problem. If you don't explicitly kill csh (or tcsh for that matter) in the console by a ^D or logout it doesn't die (if I exit by zapping on the icon or quitting from the menu). On top of this, if you try to open a new console window, the first carriage return causes the csh to exit (tcsh causes other strange things to happen). To get around this I must kill the shell that's hanging around. The same thing happens if you exit the window manager without first logging out of the shell. All of the other windows kill their shells fine. Anyone seen this? I saw some posting a while back about a fixed csh available ftp from sgi.com but I don't remember if this was the problem. If it was, I'd still like to know how to fix tcsh so it works properly in the console window (if it is the shell that has the problems).
