[comp.sys.sgi] HELP!!! NEED INFO ON HUMAN HEAD DATA FORMAT!

kskelm@happy.colorado.edu (05/05/91)

HELP! I recently got ahold of a data set of 64, 2D images representing
CAT Scan slices of a human head (THANKS MUCH, Steve!!!).

Problem is, I don't know what format the files are in! I remember
being told something about the header structure and that the body is run length
encoded, but beyond that, I'm lost.

Could someone please post or EMAIL(preferred) me the .h file containing
these definitions? (This is for a school project)

    Much appreciated,

          Kevin Kelm

VoxelLab is a volume rendering system that is apparently bundled with
IRIX 3.3.2. [From the VoxelLab User's Guide:]
" VoxelLab can handle data from a wide variety of sources, like medical and
industrial computed tomography (CT) [same as CAT??] scans, magnetic resonance
(MR) scans, PET scans, microscopy, histological sections, computed fluid
dynamics, flow cytometry, theroretical chamistry, seismological surveys, sonar,
molecular modeling, geophysics, astrophysics, and multi-dimensional
mathematical functions."

This product was developed for SGI by Vital Images, Inc., PO Box 551,
Fairfield, Indiana, 52556. If one of the above formats is the one of interest,
perhaps they can refer you to a source for that format.
