I was wondering if yppasswd will be changed in 4.0 to work more like passwd in restricting the passwords users are allowed to enter. We are trying to set up an NIS environment on a classified network, and we have to enforce some password rules: passwords at least 6 char in length, at least two alpha, at least two numeric, with expiration after 90 days. Will these types of things ever be incorporated in yppasswd or will we have to write the code ourselves? The only restrictions now with yppasswd are: From TFM: New passwords must be at least four characters long if they use a sufficiently rich alphabet and at least six characters long if monocase. These rules are relaxed if you are insistent enough. This last sentence means the user can pretty much use any password he wants, and we can not have this in our environment. Also, yppasswd does not do anything with password aging like passwd(1) does. Has anyone else out there run into these same problems? If so what is there to do? vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv | Kenneth M.
