We are beta testing SAS on our PIs and find a lot of error messages coming up if we launch SAS from a wsh window. It seems to want to be launched under mwm (?? is that the name for the Motif Window Manager ). Does such a beast exist on the SGI ?? Where do we get it from ?? ( preferably at no cost since this is a test version ). Many thanks. Yes, mwm is the motif window manager. |> Does such a |> beast exist on the SGI ?? Where do we get it from ?? I believe you buy the motif system from SGI; it should be available for your 3.3.x system. If you have mwm on some other platform, you can run it over the net to the Iris, just set DISPLAY on the machine with mwm to point to the Iris. |> ( preferably at no cost |> since this is a test version ). I don't think I can help you there. Does the app really insist that you have mwm running, or will it deal with an alternative ICCCM compliant window manager? You can try running twm just to see what happens. Caution: under 3.3.x (and NeWS), running an X window manager produces interesting effects. Check out your release notes. If you've never done it before, try this: start an xterm. Run the window manager FROM THAT xterm. Then, if you want to bring the X wm down and get all your 4Sight back, you can kill the wm from the xterm. (While the X wm is up, you won't see your wshs.) This is all clean and shiny in IRIX 4.0. -- -Tom ***** Opinions are mine, etc.
