I got my ProModem for $320 at the BYTE Computer Show in San Francisco (what a dud of a show!). Anyway, the modem has worked well for me, and I haven't found any bugs. When I hit the break key on my terminal the transmit light on the modem lights up for as long as I hold down the key. The clock works as far as I can tell. The only incompatibility between the ProModem and my old Hayes Smartmodem is that ATTD and ATDT are not the same command on the ProModem. You have to use ATDT to get tone dialing. The auto-redial on busy is a very nice feature for calling busy bulletin boards. The ProModem, unlike the Hayes, can sense busy signals and ringing. In fact it can tell the difference between the fast busy signal you get when there are no lines available and the slower signal that an off-hook telephone generates.

x I have seen the Prometheus 1200 baud ProModem advertised a lot (at a decent price, for a 1200 baud modem), and i was wondering if anyone has had any experience, good or bad, with this product. Specifcally, 1) Does it have any serious bugs (like the Anchor Automation Mark XII, which can't send a break signal)? 2) Is the on-board real time clock for real?
