Here is my nomination for a gl color vector call for use color blind medical imaging types. All of my data is gray scale data, but I want to use vertex color calls, which all expect rgb or rgba data. Since I don't want to pad all my pixels with redundant rgb data, and copying the pixel value data twice to make a color vector is also redundant, I would like to see a fast vertex color call that takes only 1 value, and generates a grey value, say from 0->255 (or more, but that is another issue). Instead of copying bytes, such a call would just tie all the color dac's together for fast grey pixel rendering.
