Has anyone ever attended the Networking course offered by Silicon Graphics?
Is it a good course? Does anyone have any details on it?

Thanks for any information
Ken

Yes, I attended the class Fall 1990. It is a very good course on the admin
of the basic networking capabilities of the Iris 4D environment. It first
touches on the fundamentals of networking (terms, layouts, etc.) It then
has several lecture/lab sections covering the different network utilities
on the 4D. The major topics we covered were:

    a. Mail
    b. NFS
    c. Diskless Environment
    d. NIS (then YP)
    e. UUCP
    f. DNS (very little; just defined it; no instruction on configuration)

The following was taken from an SGI information sheet:

Network Administration (4.5 days)

This course teaches system administrators the fundamentals of local data
communications and networking within an IRIS-4D environment. This course
concentrates on four major aspects of networking: strategy, installation,
administration and troubleshooting. The course is delivered through a mix
of lecture/discussion and hands-on labs.
