I have an interesting problem -

I have a 4D/310 VGX, running IRIX 3.3.2 and 4DDN 2.0

There no modem directly on the iris, I have to call a terminal server
and connect to a vax, then use telnet or decnet to get to the iris.
I have a multitude of different ts's and machines available, and it turns
out that whenever I connect via telnet, I get the correct time, with
TZ defined as EST5EDT. However, connecting via decnet gives GMT, with
"echo $TZ" returning "undefined variable". This happens whether I log in as
myself, or as root.

I have only noticed this since I upgraded to 4DDN version 2.0.

My .login looks at the time and uses that to set my default
terminal type. Thus, my terminal type is now often set incorrectly.
Not good when I'm trying to log in from home, and lock myself up !

Does anyone know how to fix this, other than defining TZ myself in my
.login? Is this a known 4DDN 2.0 bug? I have looked through the 4DDN manual,
but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. No need to post - just
e-mail to me, and I'll summarize and post if anyone else seems to care.

Thanks in advance, Lisa
