Does anyone know what the maximum disk size that Irix will support? We are considering getting some 1.6GB (unformatted) drives for our systems. -steve

We use 10 byte commands, so we don't run into the problems that Sun and DEC had with > 1Gb formatted capacity. Of course, that is in the abstract; I can't say whether the particular drive you are looking at will work, but the ones we have tried have worked fine.

(Well, OK, 2^31 512-byte blocks... ;-) ) The maximum filesystem size is currently 8 gig. Are these drives anything we support? If not, the usual caveats about being on your own with third-party hardware apply, of course... Dave Higgen (daveh@xtenk.asd.sgi.com)
