Hi, Recently I obtained the binaries for dump and restore compatible with IRIX 3.3 on SGI's MIPS based machines. However as we own more than fileserver (but only one exabyte), I am at a loss of how to dump things remotely. Is there an implementation of rdump about? I don't think the current version of dump I have supports remote dumping. Thanks in advance!! If they're the versions of dump and restore that we run (and they should be:-), then they should handle remote dumps just fine -- none of our SGIs has an attached Exabyte. Just provide a "hostname:" before the device, ensure that the remote end has an /etc/rmt and that dump is setuid root (needs to talk to the remote rshd to run rmt, I think). If I remember right, both dump and restore still use the annoying old syntax for hostname.user, so if hostname has a '.' in it, you *have* to provide the .user even if it is the same as the local end.
