A while back I asked why our proteon box was sending out ethernet
packets with a type of `7030'. The answer I received was that that
was a "test packet that the proteon ethernet board automatically
sends out". Well, that is fine and dandy, but I want to know how
to disable this test (unless it is required for the proteon to
operate).
Even though they are minimum size packets (64 bytes) there are a lot
of packets that get send (~1/ 4 sec). While watching our network for
26 hours, I saw 23,642 packets totaling 1,511,552 bytes. That is
a Megabyte of data. Granted that is a VERY VERY small fraction of
the bandwidth. I just think it is something on the net that does
not have to be there.
Any ideas on how to turn this off or disable it?
Thanks in advance
