[comp.sys.proteon] Proteon Ethernet card ECO question

CLIFF@UCBCMSA.BITNET (Cliff Frost {415} 642-5360) (02/18/89)

Hi,
There is an ECO to Proteon's ethernet card for their p4200. Does anyone
know what problem(s) it corrects?
    Thanks,
        Cliff

Without the ECO the card violates the Multibus protocol. This can
result in intermittent hanging of the Ethernet card or crashing of the
router.

Cliff,

The ECO(s) to the Proteon Ethernet card are to solve bus
arbitration errors. Without them, the gateway will occasionally crash
with bus-related error messages such as: Bad Multibus Interrupt, or
Bus Error.

Needless to say, we want to get everyone's Ethernet boards up to
rev ASAP. Anyone needing new boards should call into Customer Support
(508-898-3100) to make arrangements.

     Hope this helps.

Best regards,
