Hi, I've got the p4200 gateway user's guide here in front of me. It's written for release 7.3. In the manual, there is no mention of the software having the ability to route to individual nodes. According to everything I have read, you can only route to networks, or subnets. Is this also true for the newest Proteon software release? I have been told that Cisco routers have the ability to route to individual nodes. Is this also true? Thanks in advance! - Tom -- Tom Corsetti ************** IP - tomc@dftsrv.gsfc.nasa.gov "The hammer of the gods will drive ************* decnet - dftnic::tomc my ship to new lands" - Zeppelin (of course) *** bitnet - tomc at dftbit

I doubt that Proteon gateways can route to individual hosts because Noel there got apoplectic when we mentioned it. _Ron

Host routes are fully supported in OSPF, and the 8.2 release has full OSPF support. Thanks, Milo

I believe that the OSPF implementation allows routes to individual hosts, but I'm not sure; ask Proteon for details. Noel PS: wearing my Internet Standards hat, I think routing to hosts is still a terrible idea, but that has nothinhg to do with what Proteon is doing!
