[comp.sys.proteon] restricting internet access

ospwd@EMORYU1.CC.EMORY.EDU (Peter Day) (12/08/90)

We need to prevent anonymous Internet access which is currently
possible from our Annex terminal servers and from microcomputers
attached to the network. My thought is to only allow Internet access to
computers on our campus which force a user to login. Can we give the
p4200 a list of the IP numbers of those nodes that would be allowed
Internet access and have all other nodes on campus denied direct
Internet access? Is there a better way to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Peter Day

Peter,
Customer Service has p4200 sw with access controls
to the port level. In other words, you allow SMTP traffic from the
Everywhere, but only allow Telnet and FTP from Local subnets.
This feature does cost addition $150 and is available via
Susan Rawley at (508)898-3100.
