[comp.sys.xerox] Good use for old 1108 and 1186 machines

  I too have wondered what to do with my old 1108;  the Common Lisp
environment is too much for the hardware to handle.  I have a suggestion
for Xerox which would generate a great deal of good will:  why not make
an early version of Smalltalk available for a low charge or a non-supported
version available for a media charge.  We have several people who like
Smalltalk a lot and run it on micros (eg. Apple Macintosh).  The Smalltalk
environment is not demanding on hardware resources (it does run on a
Mac+), so this would allow Xerox customers to get a few more years out
of VERY expensive hardware.  - Thanks,  Mark Watson
