In our lab we have 6 of the xerox 1186 workstations. These have the maximum possible amont of RAM: 3.5 Mbytes. However, the experience of most people has been that they run significantly slower than the old 1108s under the same version of the environment (KOTO). Have others also had the same experience? If so, is there something we can do to speed up our machines? thanks very much!

I recall a user here having the same problem. They had the extended memory board installed but the EEPROM set up was set to only use the original 1.1mb of memory. As I recall there's a utility outside of Lisp that allowed us to configure the machine so it used the extended memory board. Perhaps someone forgot to do this. - David
