The problem is,two 1186s both on the same ethernet chatting to the same host (it happens whether it is an orion or a sun), using vtchat. Under Medley. One 1186 (sweet) has no problems, the other acts like its the termcap entry is screwed, `\n` are sometimes just carriage returns (no newlines, also the odd space being lost). This happens every two or three lines. The ip.init file of sweet (the working one) is (("192.9.200.138") (("192.9.200.0" . 10)) NIL "{DSK}<DSK>HOSTS.TXT" SWEET! ("192.9.200.0")) The ip.init file on the non-working one is (("192.9.200.142") (("192.9.200.0" . 10)) NIL "{DSK}<DSK>HOSTS.TXT" STRANG! ("192.9.200.0")) This is with both booted using the same sysout, and both with me logged in (i.e. same init files). Also, it should be said we have a number of machines which do the wrong thing so it seems it is not just one bad machine but perhaps something in the setup. Has any one else ever seen a similar problem? When looking at what is actually going on the ethernet it seems that both 1186 are receiving the correct stuff but one is junking it. many thanks Alan Alan W Black 80 South Bridge, Edinburgh, UK Centre for Speech Technology Research tel: (+44) -31 225 8883 x260 University of Edinburgh email: awb@aipna.ed.ac.uk
