Does anyone know how to update the Bad Page Table on a Xerox 1109? The manuals just say I should call my field representative. I know I once managed to do this for myself, but I can no longer remember how. Twinerik

My thanks to everyone who responded to my question about updating the Bad Page Table on an 1109. The answer turned out to be: 2-Boot or 5-Boot the fixed-disk diagnostic floppy. When you get a prompt, logon as user xerox with wizard privileges. I am not going to post the password, but you can probably guess it from this message if you try. If not, ask me directly. You might want to peruse the commands that are now available by typing "?". One option now is to use the Manual Entry command to update the Bad Page Table. Another option is to use the Test Bad Pages command. This steps you thru each bad page and allows you to either repair it or add it to the table. (There is nothing complicated about attempting a repair. You just type "repair" and either it gets fixed or it doesnt.) You can probably figure out the rest on your own. I had some kind of trouble when I tried to use the Media Scan command when logged on as a wizard, so you might want to avoid doing that. Dont take anything in this message as Gospel since I only used it once, and I'm writing this from memory anyhow. I hope this is useful (and not illegal for me to post). Twinerik
