[comp.sys.xerox] Xerox sues Apple

welch@aristotle.cis.ohio-state.edu (Arun Welch) (12/19/89)

I case you folks haven't heard, Xerox sued Apple on friday for
unlawful use of copyrighted Xerox software, namely that the Lisa and
Macintosh software stems from work originally done by Xerox and was
used by Apple without Xerox's permission. The total suit is for $150
million, of which $100 million is for royalties, license fees, and
other benefits that Apple recieved, and the other $50 million is for
unfair competition and business practices... They've also asked the
Copyright office to declare Apple's copyrights on the Lisa and
Macintosh invalid.

Looks like an interesting year ahead.
