[comp.sys.xerox] power-supply inside a 1186 monitor/console ??

Does anyone out there know of any 3rd party repair service for the D-machines
? I've an 1186 whose power-supply inside the monitor seems to be wearing out
(can't seem to handle the large draw of current from almost black screen to
white screen when one logs in after a long idle time -- screen image shrink
briefly upon login accompanied by a small cracking noise). Xerox told me that
they'll have to replace the whole monitor and it's going to cost over $700.
Just wondering if anyone know of any 3rd party repair that would provide
cheaper service/replacement or any cheap/quick fix to it. The machine is
working fine otherwise.

I was able to order one of the circuit boards for the 1186 monitor
from the OEM Sampo for $52. I don't know what the power board would cost or
if they would sell it. Their SF sales phone number is (415) 648-5505.
Their parts number in Georgia is (404) 449 6220. I think I ended up
using the Georia number because the SF guy was on vacation a couple of years
ago. Either number could be stale by now, of course.
Get every likely part number off the board you want to order before
you phone them. The board I ordered was Sampo's number PWB-2073-ASSY.
        Good luck,
