We are a beta test sight for an XPS (Xerox Publishing System) and some time ago obtained a software package called XPSFILE from Xerox Australia which supposedly allows file transfer and possibly other services with the XPS from a PC with a 3COM 3C503 Etherlink II Ethernet card. An XPS we believe uses a subset of XNS which does not have the full file, print and mail services hence why we possibly cant use XNSFILE or PCPLUS unless we install an XNS file server. On the same network we also are using 2 XPIW's (modified 6085's?) and a 4050 printer. So far we have been unable to get very far with XPSFILE as we have no documentation for it but believe it may be similiar to the format used by XNSFILE. Xerox Australia are trying to help but if anyone out there has any info on either product, specifically the format of the PROFILE.SYS file, settings of the card for thick Ethernet, and how to use the software we would love to hear from you! In addition any other users of an XPS who have managed to get it communicating with a TCP/IP system or Novell's Netware or even if you just have an XPS please respond. Mail replies preferred, thanks. **** Owen Baker **** Communication Services Unit, RMIT (Victoria University of Technology) **** Melbourne, Victoria, Australia **** **** rxcob@minyos.xx.rmit.oz.au **** odb@caxton.csu.rmit.oz.au
