I have an 1186 which keeps completely freezing for no apparent reason. (having been completely reliable for ages). Everything stops, including the mouse cursor. Pressing the B-reset button blanks the screen, and the machine then sits there, with the `scroll lock' led on, and the screen completely black. After leaving it powered off for a while it comes back, for a while. I've tried swapping the display card & the CPU card to no avail. Next I'll try the IOP -- is this a reasonable candidate? If it is reasonable, does anyone know which chip on that card is the eeprom? It would be easier to swap them than reconfigure the new card. --tim Tim Bradshaw. Tim, You might want to take a look at the power supply. Being old, it tends to drift on the voltage levels. Wierd itermitent failures without apparent reason occur when it starts to go bad. Good luck, Carl Gadener Aisupport.mvenvos@xerox.com
