This is not the right news group for this help request, but there may be someone having this or a similar experience that can provide some help. We have been trying to install Seagate 225 Hard Drives into WYSE 1100s using the Western Digital WD1002S-WX2 Winchester Disk Controller. We seem to have the latest Low Level Formatter in the Auto-Config BIOS ROM, Part Number 62- 000043-010. Wyse was not able to give any advice other than to use the ADAPTEC Hard Disk Controller (which we aint got). Everthing goes well, the formatter comes up and asks for the drive # and interlace number. The standard (and our answer) should be 0 03 <CR>. As soon as this is entered, the system goes off into never-never land. I've tried using other low level formating programs: llformat, optim, & prep to no avail. The programs terminate with "Can't talk to the controller card", "Check your cables and connectors" or type 01 error(?). There is also a DOS error 1701 as the system boots. We have tried 2 computers, 2 sets of cables, 2 hard disks and two controller cards. We have also tried the jumper swtches on the controller card in all positions except for two that require cutting a land. They are: 1. W5 2-1 BIOS ROM SIZE 32k or 64k default 2-3 BIOS ROM SIZE 16k 2. W& 2-1 INTRQ to INTRQ 5 on host connector default 2-3 INTRQ to INTRQ 2 on host connector I hesitate to cut the lands, unless there is some reasonable expectation of success. All comments, suggestions are welcome, especially the S O L U T I O N! Earnie
