Hi all. Sorry if this is inappropriate to a news group that is specifically Z-100 but I really do not have many places to turn. I have two very interesting questions, (at least to me :-|). I just received the MACE Utilities and to install the MCache a note indicates that I need to install Z-DOS 3.2 .. WHY??? What kind of controller might I have for an OSI 40MB hard disk. I have opened up the machine but everything in there is hyroglyphics (sp.). ihnp4!alberta!auvax!kevinc (Kevin Crocker Athabasca University) Do our employers have opinions or is that what we get paid for!

I have only found one disk cache program that works with ms-dos 3.1x, discache(pd, available via anon ftp from clutx.clarkson.edu, pub/discache.arc). Vcache didn't work properly because of a bug in Zenith's ms-dos 3.1x (try int 25 on a non-asgnpart'ed partition). According to Golden Bow, Zenith's ms-dos 3.1x can bypass int 16 to read/write the disk, a definate nono. Seems that they fixed it in 3.2. I suspect that MCache suffers from the same problem. -russ
