For $499 it was hard to turn down IBM compatability and multi-processing. Yes, I got a 148 and connected it to the 100. A couple of questions. Is it possible for the 148 to use the 100's hard drive through a serial or parallel port? Somewhere, I had instructions for using the 100's floppy with an ATARI. Second question - The 148 manual suggested setting the 148's wait state to 3. Apparently it can be set from 0 or 1 to 5. Is there some kind of test that would optimize the number of wait states for the actual hardware? Something like optileaf - that sets the interleave on the hard disk to various values and then checks read & write times to get the best interleave factor - would be fantastic.
