GUBBINS@RADC-TOPS20.ARPA (Gern) (05/13/88)
Due to the Tree structured distribution of INFO-HZ100, the current non-DOMAIN, NIC-Host-Table-Only (and trimmed, as it is just too large) mail system here, and a lot of new DOMAIN-served-only readers out there, it is sometimes impossible for me (and other users) to send an email response to reply to a user because there is no known return path. This makes me feel bad, as I get several messages a week from Z-100 users asking questions, needing a file, or want to join the INFO-HZ100 discussion group and I can't send them a reply to even acknowledge that I got their message. The reason I am bringing all this up is that due to the redistribution mailers, there are several readers on INFO-HZ100 that I can no longer send mail to. I want all these persons to know that I tried responding to them both on the TOPS20 and the Multics systems here before I had to give up, and that I did not ignore their messages. Note that if your Host is not registered with the NIC and in the NIC Host Table, then I probably can't email to you. I will not respond to a non-general request by bothering the whole list to get the info to you. Hopefully soon, with the DDN upgrades, revised mailers, etc, the mail systems will someday run smoothly. Gern PS - GRIEB@locke.... Cindy, you are one of the ones I can't reply to. -------
