Dear Cindy MS-DOS, or to be more exact the Z-100 BIOS, only allows COM1, COM2, the Parallel Port, or the Console to be assigned to one of the standard MS-DOS files (or accesed via the BIOS). It is one of the failings of the Z-100 that they put the S-100 Bus in the Z-100 and did not allow it to be used as the AUX port... Kermit-MS, of course, currently does its I/O via BIOS calls and thus only supports the above listed ports; to modify Kermit to handle an S-100 would require you add your own low I/O routines to Kermit... a task would could be hairy, although since the routines are reasonably well broken out, it should be possible. If you have the required changes to Kermit available, send them to me at ahd@omnigate.Clarkson.EDU, and when I get back to Kermit in a couple of weeks I can look at adding the S-100 code. I would NOT suggest you add the S-100 code to any Kermit source you have, it is at least two releases back; the only updated (or the official updated source, for what is it worth), is sitting on the hard disk of my AT Clone at home. (Yes, I broke down, my Z-100 is not long for this world.) Rob Logan or DJ Delorie used to have an S-100 card modem, ask what they used. Drew Derbyshire
