[comp.sys.zenith.z100] transducer for pulse rate

As the result of a recent visit to the Lahey Clinic I find myself with
an increased interest in such things as blood pressure and pulse rate.
One of the things I'm curious about is changes in pulse rate before,
during, and after "in-place" exercise. Has anybody built even a crude
transducer which could interface one way or another to a PC and provide
a running tally of pulse rate? Most of what comes to mind would suffer
from a fearful amount of noise while the body is not "motionless", but
that's what filtering is for - digital or otherwise. It's not as if
the bandwidth of interest is broad spectrum or is expected to change
rapidly.
