My Z-100 software wish list is: A very FAST GIF file display program with PD source code that can easily be altered to support the 64 colors/pixel video mod I hope to have finished by the end of this summer. The Code in PD1:<MSDOS.GIF> for the EGA on SIMTEL20 is a start. A FAST assembly language version of the CCI Imagewise Frame Grabber program that displays PIW data files (256x256 in 64 grey levels). I use Hogware's ZIP program to get the image from the grabber, but the ZIP programs display modes are terrible. I have hacked a Turbo Pascal V3.0 program to display in different modes on the Z-100 the PIW datafiles. It takes about 1.5 minutes to display the image on the screen. I don't have on me the DOC file I wrote, BUT: If anyone wants to play with the program and images from a Star Trek Episode (guess which one!), scenes from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and images from The Making Of The Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Issue, the files are now available for a short time by anonymous ftp from my lowly Zenith Z-150 running KA9Q TCP/IP: PITA.RADC.AF.MIL IP Address: [192.43.152.20] The program and data expects grey level output - NOT COLOR. If you have a monochrome screen with full color (8 grey) Z-100 or use the composite input to the ZVM-135 off the composite video connector on the Z-100 you will be all set (you should play with the contrast & brightness a bit). The data is in the brightness (grey level) of the color, not the color itself. I will post the DOC file to the program soon. Please let me know if you were successful in FTPing from PITA, if you like the code/data files, and if you have optimized the program hack or converted it to MASM code. Cheers, Gern -------
