I just had a neat thought: If you replace the 64Kx1 DRAMs on the Z-100 video board with 256Kx1 DRAMs, tie all the pin-1s together, and add some minor logic, you would be easily be able to support 8 pages of normal video (640x225) or 4 pages in interlace (640xUpTo 525). This would allow for some awesome animation effects. The mods would not be hard to do. This is what I call Extended Video RAM. Then by adding additional bit planes of RAM on a piggy backed board also with 256Kx1 (or 256Kx4) DRAMs, would allow more colors per pixel. This is what I call Expanded Video RAM. Hopefully by the end of THIS summer, I and others will get a clean implementation of this. Does anyone care? Gern -------

does anybody know of i an inexpensive way to upgrade the monitor on my zenith 148 pc. currently i have a cga, 9 pin connector, about 250x400 pixel on monochrome monitor. i would like to upgrade to 350x650 or some- thing. a quality that when using word processing i have a disply where i cannot count how many dots make-up a letter. i would like to stick with monochrome. i have no extra expansion slots. i was told i would need to buy a daughter board, an eh enhanced graphics board, and a new monitor. probably close to 500 f dollars. does anybody know of a more reasonable way? thanks, sandraZZ
