I recently acquired a Z-205 board which is an S-100 board for the Z-100 and which provides another 256K RAM above what's on the motherboard. Unfortunately, I have NO instructions. Basically I have one kind of question: how do I set the switches to set the beginning address of its RAM to start immediately after a) 192 K on the motherboard b) 256 K ..... c) 512 K Actually most of my Z-100's already have 768 K on the motherboard. Is there any way to set the Z-205 switches for even higher addresses? I even have a modification kit to put 1 MEG on the Z-205 board. What switch settings and what software (MDISK.DVD, maybe?) will let me have a big RAM drive and ......? --Myron -- Myron A. Calhoun, PhD EE, W0PBV, (913) 532-6350 (work), 539-4448 (home). Myron, if the Z-100 has a MAX of 192K (old motherboard ICs, old or new type MB): SW1: 76543210 SW2: 76543210 01100111 11111100 Be careful, as the switches are actually in reverse order on the board. If you have 256K chips on the motherboard, you will damage the board and the Z-100 RAM system if you use the Z-205 below 768K. To use the Z-205 as a 256K RAMdisk above 768K, use the modifed RAMDISK driver from the PD LIB disk set (that program is not yet on SIMTEL20, but I'm working on it). I think the ASM source includes switch settings for 768K, I'll check. Cheers, Gern -------
