I am interested in any information anyone may have on the HUG ZPC software. How well it works, what the hardware requirements are, etc. Please mail me a reply. Thanks.

To run the full CGA graphics emulation, ZPC requires 768K of RAM. It is not that ZPC is large (it is very small), but real RAM must exist above 640K where the PC programs expect CGA video RAM to be. This is the only requirement. A 8MHz Z-100 with ZPC will be quite a bit faster than a PC. A couple of motherboard and video board jumpers will also prevent PC I/O port conflicts caused by some programs. Optional, but will get more programs to work without modifications. The ZPC Hardware circuit/Scottie board will allow almost all CGA programs to run. the Hughes 16-color board/ZPC mod will allow most EGA programs to run. Cheers, Gern -------

Just wanted to add my endorsement of ZPC. It really works well. I'm running mine without the Scottie mods, but in 768K. Most things except programs that talk to the ports (communications packages, etc) work pretty well. As a long time z100 user, I've used Watchword as my editor. When it became available for the PC, I had my boss buy it for my PC. It is not as nice as the 100 version, but still a great editor. Anyway, I thought I'd try the PC version on the 100 under ZPC and it works just fine (although why one would use it is another question). ZPC has helped me milk a few more years out of the old 100 till I can save enough $$ for a 386 box. Well worth the very cheap asking price.
