[comp.sys.zenith.z100] Software doesn't see COM3

jjm@raybed2.msd.ray.com (JAMES MURPHY) (09/06/90)

I have a Z-151 with 640K, and a 20MB drive. COM1 is the standard
serial device on the zenith cards. COM2 is located on my QUADBORARD
expansion. It only has the choice of COM1 or COM2. I installed an
internal modem and set it up for COM3. (COM2 is my mouse, so COM1
is out of the question). XTALK and PROCOMM have no problem using
this modem as COM3. I recently got CompuServes Info Mgr (CIM) 1.1 and
it will not recognize COM3 as existing. Although COM1-COM4 are listed
on the setup menu, only COM1 and COM2 are highlighted and available
for selection. It is using the standard IRQ4 for COM3. The bits at
in the system hardware words (410H,411H I think) show only 2 COM ports
available. I used DEBUG to set these to 3 without any affect. Is there
anythink else I can check/try? Can the serial port of the main boards
be disabled so I can set the modem to COM1?
