[net.news.group] net.vms

cfv@packet.UUCP (07/06/83)

Perhaps it is time to take another look at fa.all in general... Since the
net cut over, it seems that arpa in general has been flaky (from a message
point of view) to the point that some of the newsgroups (such as info-vax)
have been terribly unreliable since December when they existed at all. Also,
some of the arpa stuff (notably net.micro and net.unix-wizards) is sent across
through the regular net channel instead of having a second group in fa.
It seems to be that the place where the fa group is really useful is in
digested topics, but I have seen arpa digests posted to net.lang.prolog.
A logical break to me would be that normally digested stuff should be sent
through net.??? while digests would be sent though fa.???. Since I don't have
to worry about the gateway, this is really easy for me to say, so perhaps
someone who really knows what is involved could comment?
