Hell out there -- got a curious problem. Just purchased an old z100 with a 10 meg hard drive. The drive is a miniscribe 2012, attached to a standard z100 hard drive controller (as far as I can tell). Now, this is the trouble. Prep works fine; initializes and tests the drive, completes with no errors (appropriate jumper had been set). Part works fine (after jumper has been set back). detect (also known as verify) works fine. All of them access the hard drive just fine, the red light goes on, and they seem to read and write properly. However, when I attempt to format the drive from Dos 2.1 (and 3.1) I get a "not ready error reading drive E; abort, retry, fail?". Any ideas of what could be wrong? There's a set of dip switches on the controller card; I have no documentation, so I don't know if they might be set wrong. Help! Copies of hardware documentation for the z100 winchester system would be very helpful, as would any ideas or suggestions. Thanks!
