[comp.os.xinu] Using Xinu in a commercial product

jay@splut.UUCP (Jay Maynard) (11/15/87)

A startup company I'm getting involved in is in need of a multitasking
kernel for one phase of a project. A bit of rummaging around in my boxes of
books produced a copy of Douglas Comer's book.

What, exactly, is the legal status of Xinu? Can we use it in our project at
all? Is it PD, or is it licensed by company, or by copy? How about
8086-targeted development environments? (Before you flame, the 8086 is the
most powerful processor that fits our [rather stringent] requirements; the
only other possibilities are all 8-bit machines.) In particular, are there
development requirements beyond a C compiler for the target machine?

Responses by E-mail, please; I'll summarize.
