Greetings All! A few weeks ago I was able to finally fulfill a long-time goal of mine - a PDP-11 of my very own! It's an 11/34 with 256 kb and two RK05 disks - limited, yes, but functional (not according to my wife, however!). Right now I'm running RT-11, but would like to experiment with Unix or a unix-like op sys. I posted a request in comp.sys.dec and the consensus was that for a hobbyist's machine, ANY version of REAL Unix is going to be cost- prohibitive because of the licensing fees. Someone suggested that I try Xinu, hence, this post. I was told that Doug Comer's book was originally written for the PDP-11. Is this true? And if so, is it possible to get a copy of that version of the book? If it was originally written for the 11, is it possible to get the source in computer-readable format? I have access to RX02 floppys, magtape, paper-tape, or what-have-you. E-mail or posting here will be fine, and much appreciated! -- =============================================================================== Douglas N.
